Louie Avila, Voice Technician & Coach

Best known for his portrayal of Boq in the musical WICKED, Louie has become the go-to vocal coach for singers looking to improve their vocal ability and booking potential.

Specializing in the audition process, clients consistently see results in the audition room and on stage. A healthy vocal approach in combination with authentic storytelling is applied to develop a singers’ unique ability.

Clients range from celebrity recording artists and television actors to working musical theatre performers and high school students throughout the Los Angeles area.

Additionally, Louie is a professional accompanist and musical director having worked with Musical Theatre West (MTW), 3D Theatricals (3DT), Michael Donovan Casting and more.  

A successful career in show business has paved the way to a road as an arts educator, with faculty positions at The Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA), The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA), and The Speech Level Singing Summer Intensive (SLS).

Louie is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA and AEA. Among his many professional credits, some favorites include Life In Pieces (CBS), The Politician (Netflix), and Prince Chulalongkorn in The King and I (National Tour).

An alumni of the Colburn School in Downtown Los Angeles, Louie credits his strong foundational approach to the arts by being exposed to great mentors and master teachers throughout his career.

With studio locations in Los Angeles and Orange County, Katie Majors’ clientele ranges from well known singer-songwriters and recording artists to working musical theatre performers of all ages in Southern California.

Her refined approach to vocal balance has made her one of the most sought after vocal coaches in Los Angeles for singers needing guidance and understanding of their own voice.

Equally comfortable in front of an audience, Katie’s solo career has given her the opportunity to work with major artists at The Ace Hotel, The Fonda Theatre, The Whiskey, and The Rainbow Room. She has also been a featured singer for special events at The Segerstrom Center and The Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre.

As a musical director Katie has worked with Marina High School, Yorba Linda Spotlight Theatre, and Musical Youth Artists Repertory Theatre (MYART).

She has held faculty positions at Clifton Dance Project, The Academy of Performing Arts (APA), and is currently the resident vocal coach for Free To Be Me Academy in Orange County.

She continues to collaborate with songwriters and artists in the LA area and has released EP’s and several original works of her own.

Her love of music has become the main inspiration for her teaching, developing comprehensive programs for her clients no matter what skill level.

Katie holds a Bachelor of Music from Cal State Fullerton with an emphasis in music education, and continues to perfect her process here at LA Vocal Studios.

Tara Carbone, Associate Instructor

Working actress/singer/dancer, Tara is originally from Las Vegas, NV. She discovered her passion for dance and performing at 8 years old.

As a competitive dancer she won many national titles, then graduated with a BFA in musical theatre from Syracuse University!

Upon graduating, Tara moved to NYC where she performed as the title role in Angelina Ballerina The Holiday Musical Off-Broadway. While in NYC, Tara also toured with the national tour of How The Grinch Stole Christmas for two seasons.

Other NY regional credits include Damn Yankees, The Music Man and The Lion, The Witch & the Wardrobe.

As an educator she has worked with the Brooklyn Ballet summer intensive, Broadway Bound, NYDC & master classes for Broadway Connection. 

Now based in Los Angeles Tara continues to perform on stage and on screen. LA theatre credits include Brooke Windham in Legally Blonde and Graziella in West Side Story.  

Tara has danced in a commercials for Pepsi and has starred in several films and web series. A true creative, she has also written several scripts and TV pilots.

She specializes in coaching dance and movement for stage and screen as well as audition opportunities for television actors. Her clients range from working actors to beginner children.

She currently teaches for Brentwood Academy of Dance and guest teaches for Turn it up Dance Convention. 

“I care about the people I work with and I want people to feel their best and find joy when they coach with me. I always encourage people through nurturing yet honest communication. I am truly obsessed with the work!”
